The Association
"Les Amis de Pierre Andrès" association
Created in 2012 on the initiative of his son Gilles, at the suggestion of Dr Michel Reymond, who was Pierre's doctor and friend for three decades in Pont-Salomon, its aim is to protect, enhance and promote the artist's work.
Its first task was to compile a complete catalogue of the ‘Machines Singulières’. At the beginning of 2018, the list included 110 identified machines.

Mimi Barthélémy
Haitian (born in Port-au-Prince in 1939), based in France since the 1970s, Mimi Barthélémy was a theatre artist, writer and, above all, a great storyteller. Inspired by traditional repertoire, she told stories and sang in Creole and French. Her work on memory and oral tradition will remain a valuable contribution to Haitian culture.
1981, the meeting of two artists
The beautiful story of The Magic Orange Tree, inspired by a traditional Haitian tale, brought together two talents, two imaginations. He then created a tree, a ball machine that became the perfect expression of the story's symbolism. Mimi Barthélémy seized upon it to use as the basis for her narrative. The Magic Orange Tree (pictured above) accompanied her throughout her career, in a version that was easy to dismantle and transport by plane.

Steve Waring
The providential meeting between songwriter Steve Waring and Pierre Andrès at an exhibition in Fontenay-sous-Bois in 1987 led to a warm and lasting collaboration.
Sound structures created by Pierre Andrès took to the stage alongside Steve Waring and his musicians, with up to ten machines in use.
Born in Pennsylvania and living in France since 1965, this virtuoso of the acoustic guitar and banjo is a composer and performer of children's music who enjoys unwavering popularity with the public. In 2008, he received the Académie Charles-Cros award for his entire career. His shows regularly tour throughout France.
